I can understand why it has been set up the way it is but it seems very inflexible to me. We're a small picture framing shop. Ideally what I need from the invoicing software is to be able to select a service ('item') from a list (such as block mount, canvas stretch, lamination, etc), be able to enter a bit in the description field but then be able to enter a price for that job. I could do it by entering a slightly longer description but the list option would be very powerful because I could look at the reports and see what services we do more of and tweak the advertising or decide which hardware to upgrade / invest in. At the moment this software won't let me do that because the Item has a locked price - there isn't an option to enter an individual price for a given job. [Edit:] One (potential) work-around that I think would work is to set the price to $1 for each item and then use the Quantity option to determine the cost (so put in 50x $1 for a $50 item). This 'works' in that it would do what I want but would throw the report out, as a few big canvases a month would equal 'thousands' of jobs but many small frames in the same time period would only be 'hundreds' of jobs.
