Epub Thumbnails In Windows Explorer

Since I have upgraded to Windows 10, from Windows 8, I have lost the ability to preview the thumbnails when looking up files in File Explorer. I can see photo thumbnails just fine. However, I no longer can see the SoildWorks thumbnails I was able to see using Windows 8. I have made sure that the items in the Folder Options/View are properly checked, or in this case, unchecked. I have also setup the options in SoildWorks to 'View thumbnails in Windows File Explorer' is checked. Being unable to see the parts is slowing my file retrieval time considerably. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

However, on my laptop, I'm running the same version of SolidWorks, and Windows 10. I can see the thumbnails just fine. That, Sir, is an important piece of information!:) Are both machines the same architecture? Clean install? Have you tried to search for SolidWorks specific help? If your up for a little registry detective work, follow the file extension. Here's an old post of mine that outlines finding the thumbnail handler for a file: In your case you would want to copy the CLSID shown for your file's handler from the right-hand pane and then copy it into the search dialog (Ctrl+F, search in keys ) search for that in the registry to see it's associated info under HKCR Classes and elsewhere. Comparing the entries in the two registries (export changing file type to text gives a more human friendly view for comparison). Good Luck, Keith. Hi Keith, Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Swamped with other projects. I'm not too comfortable with messing around with the registries.

However, with the right instructions, I'm sure I can get through it. Both of the computers are 64 bit systems. The laptop had been in use for a couple of years.

The desktop had only been in use for about a day when I upgraded to Windows 10. I upgraded my laptop within a day or so of upgrading the desktop. The laptop fell right into place. Wasn't that lucky with the desktop.

At first, I couldn't see any thumbnails on the desktop. After doing the normal setup items, such as the file explorer options, I was able to see photos (i.e., jpg, tiff, etc.).

In regards to the software programs (i.e., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Adobe Acrobat X, etc.) are the same versions on both computers. They are older versions, and have been upgraded to include the same patch files, etc.

Thumbnails of 32-bit resolution and as large as 256x256 pixels are often used in Windows Vista UI. File format owners should be prepared to display their thumbnails at that size. They should also provide non-static images for their thumbnails that reflect the particular file's contents. For example, a text file's thumbnail should show a miniature version of the document, including its text.

The interface has been introduced to make providing a thumbnail easier and more straightforward than in the past, when would have been used instead. Note, that existing code that uses IExtractImage is still valid under Windows Vista.

However, IExtractImage is not supported in the Details pane. This topic discusses the following: • • • • • • Thumbnail Processes Handlers, including thumbnail handlers, run by default in a separate process. You can force the handler to run in-process by passing a NULL value as the bind context in a call to as shown here. If an image is not square, you should not pad it yourself. Windows is responsible for respecting the original aspect ratio and padding the image to a square size.
